Remembrance

Every so often something comes along that captures the imagination and hearts of the nation, the London Olympics, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, and currently, 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' - the art installation at the Tower of London.  The sight of the 888,246 ceramic poppies which now fill the Tower's moat is so powerful and deeply moving.  Each poppy represents a British military death during the First World War and the poppies now completely encircle this iconic landmark, it's size is impossible to capture on a single photograph.

Several of the Crafty Boots Design Team have been to see their poppies and I should like to thank Helen L for allowing us the reproduce some of her stunning photographs.

Which brings me to the theme of our brand new challenge 'Remembrance'.  Whilst for many of us this word will conjure up images of war and heroism and the gratitude of a nation and, yes, of beautiful red poppies, for others it will mean many, many other things, of days at the beach and a favourite moment in time or a loved one.

We would like to see whatever image this forceful word means to you.  Here a a few inspirational projects from our Design Team.

This challenge will remain open until 12 Noon on Sunday, 23 November. There are very few rules but, if you would like to read them for yourself, you will find them here.

We are all looking forward to seeing your projects, good luck.
